Swap Shop: Usable hazardous chemicals
CLOSED for the Winter.
Thanks to a grant from the Iowa DNR, the Marshall County Landfill has a building on site where residents can “shop” for usable hazardous materials other residents have brought in before they are sent to be recycled. Customers can call for an appointment to drop off chemicals they no longer need and take a look at the Swap Shop for items they can use. The items that are set aside for the Swap Shop are in the original containers, with no leaks, and can be found on store shelves.
Some examples of items that may be found in the Swap Shop are:
- household cleaning products
- oil-based stains and varnishes
- fertilizers
- glues
- caulking
- rust removers
- sanitizers
- paint stripper and thinner
The Swap Shop is open by appointment Monday -Friday 9am-3pm. Call 641-752-0646 to make an appointment. You do not need to bring chemicals to recycle to be able to “shop”.
